Chase believes the best lessons aren't found in textbooks—they're learned through experience. With years of experience in wilderness education and traditional skills, he founded Red Rock Nature School to help young people become capable, confident, and resilient. Through hands-on learning, outdoor adventure, and meaningful responsibility, students develop practical life skills, strong character, and a lifelong connection to nature.
Building Capable, Confident Kids
Red Rock Nature School is a homeschool enrichment program where children learn the practical skills that aren't always taught in a traditional classroom. Through wilderness exploration, traditional crafts, tool use, woodworking, navigation, fire-building, and hands-on projects, students discover what they're truly capable of.
At Red Rock, we believe children should leave with more than memories—they should leave with skills they'll use for the rest of their lives. Whether learning to safely use hand tools, build a chair, change the oil in a vehicle, maintain equipment, identify edible plants, start a fire, navigate with map and compass, prepare food outdoors, or work together to solve meaningful challenges, every lesson is rooted in real experience. Our students gain confidence by doing—not simply by watching.
Our goal isn't just to teach outdoor skills. We want to help raise resilient, resourceful young people who know how to work with their hands, solve problems, care for themselves and others, and approach life with confidence, curiosity, and a deep respect for the natural world.

Campcraft & Wilderness Skills
Learn the timeless outdoor skills that have served generations—from fire building, shelter construction, knife safety, and navigation to outdoor cooking, rope work, and wilderness preparedness.
Nature Connection
Develop a lasting relationship with the natural world through wildlife tracking, plant identification, foraging, ecology, and seasonal observation. Students learn to understand the land—not just explore it.
Practical Skills & Woodworking
Build confidence by making real things with real tools. Students safely learn woodworking, tool use, furniture building, simple repairs, measuring, planning projects, and craftsmanship that lasts a lifetime.
Character & Leadership
Confidence is earned through responsibility. By working together, mentoring younger students, leading projects, and overcoming real challenges, children develop resilience, integrity, leadership, and a strong work ethic.
Life Skills
Learn the skills every young person should know before adulthood. From changing oil, maintaining equipment, cooking, sewing, sharpening tools, gardening, and basic first aid to problem-solving, responsibility, and caring for shared spaces, students leave with practical abilities they'll use for life.
Adventure & Exploration
Every adventure becomes a classroom. Through hiking, navigation, survival scenarios, outdoor cooking, and exploration, students learn to adapt, solve problems, and embrace new challenges with confidence.

Every day, students build, create, repair, cook, explore, problem-solve, and work alongside experienced mentors. Whether constructing a chair, changing the oil in a vehicle, preparing a meal over the fire, using traditional tools, or navigating the backcountry, every experience builds confidence, independence, and real-world capability that lasts a lifetime.
